NOCD just raised $33 million to bring OCD treatment online as mental-health startups look to break through a crowded field

NOCD, a startup that offers online therapy for obsessive-compulsive disorder, a condition in which patients experience intrusive thoughts and compulsions, just raised $33 million.
The round was backed by investors such as F-Prime, 8-Roads, Kaiser Permanente Ventures, 7wireVentures, Chicago Ventures, and Health Enterprise Partners.
NOCD partners with insurers to give members online access to its therapists for talk and exposure therapy, and patients can also connect with one another through an online platform.
CEO Stephen Smith founded the Chicago company to provide the kinds of answers and therapies he hadn’t been able to find as an OCD patient himself, he told Insider. Smith said he was misdiagnosed several times by healthcare providers before he stumbled upon an explanation for his condition online. Read more here.
